Healing with Easy & Gentle Tai Chi-Qigong by Kim Kubsch

Friday, June 2nd, 2017

June is National Cancer SURVIVORS Month
National Cancer Survivors Day® on June 4th is a CELEBRATION for those who have survived, an INSPIRATION for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of SUPPORT for families, and an OUTREACH to the community. The Casa Grande Cancer Support Center is celebrating its five year anniversary. It offers very resourceful information each weekday from 9am-1pm, as well as a great range of activities from healing nutrition to caregiver support, yoga, sound healing, etc.
I am fortunate to experience the benefits enjoyed there by the cancer community who attend my easy and gentle Tai Chi-Qigong class each Monday. Click to access numerous articles about the benefits of Tai Chi & Qigong for cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and supporters.

Make Your Balance Great Again DVD to be released in mid-April 2017

Wednesday, March 8th, 2017

April 2017 release of my new Balance DVD:
This DVD will be released in April, demonstrating a daily balance program for better mobility, stability and agility in and around the homes of mature adults. Filmed in various homes and apartments, the participants range from 60-99 years of age. Some have had hip, shoulder and knee surgeries and several have arthritis, carpel tunnel, fibromyalgia, glaucoma and hearing challenges. From the bathroom to the garage to the kitchen, your home can be your best exercise opportunity without getting dressed and out of the house!

In over six years of teaching easy and gentle Tai Chi –Qigong to mature adults, the participants have provided me daily insights to a wide range of balance challenges. One of the many benefits of a Tai Chi practice is that it helps improve balance targeting all the physical components needed to stay upright: leg strength, flexibility, range of motion and reflexes – all of which tend to decline with age. Click to view my weekly class schedule to give it a try.

July 4th – A Celebration of our Independence

AARP created a HomeFit Guide to help people stay in the homes they love by turning where they live into a “lifelong home,” suitable for themselves and anyone in their household. The guide offers solutions that range from simple do-it-yourself fixes to improvements that are more involved and require skilled expertise but are well worth the expense. Click to download your guide to live independently at home as long as possible.

With my experience as an Aging in Place Specialist and Fall Prevention Specialist, I totally support “senior-proofing your home,” in addition to safe and daily movements.  Don’t let your lazy boy chair make you lazy. Get up and move your energy and strengthen your muscles in the process.  Prevent falls, rather than react to them . Are you aware that studies report statins and cholesterol drugs can weaken the muscles over time?  Read more.

How to Create Your Summer  “NO Fly & Mosquito Zone”

Using insect repellant is a no-brainer these days, especially due to the rise of the Zika virus, a flu-like disease spread by mostly mosquitos.  Oil of lemon eucalyptus acts as a true repellent that is safe for all.  Stay protected, apply correctly and choose your favorite application to include spray, wipes, and lotion.  Click to  Shop Amazon:  Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus.

Manage Stress with Easy & Gentle Tai Chi-Qigong and Deep Breathing

Sunday, April 10th, 2016

Dear Tai Chi-Qigong Friends,

April is Stress Awareness Month:

How often you hear yourself thinking “slow down,” yet you keep the hectic pace with a to do list that never ends? I think Lily Tomlin says it best, “The trouble with the rat race is that even if you win, you’re still a rat.” Slow, deep breathing combined with gentle and easy Tai Chi and Qigong is just one practice that encourages your heart to beat slower and your muscles relax. What a powerful combo to help heal the body!

Forever Young Tai Chi CoverCertified Tai Chi-Qi Gong Instructor, Kim Kubsch releases third DVD!

Loss of balance and agility. We all face it, but how we choose to deal with it is what plays on our health. Kim Kubsch, Certified Tai Chi-Qi Gong Instructor (ATCQA), announces her new DVD, “Forever Young Tai Chi.” Kubsch uses Tai Chi, a low-impact exercise, to teach adults how to enhance overall health, improve balance and coordination, increase flexibility, and replace stress with inner peace.

Forever Young Tai Chi” is filmed in Casa Grande Arizona at her intermediate class of easy and gentle Tai Chi and Qi Gong. The DVD promotes feeling calm, relaxed and empowered. It is a routine suitable for all ages and fitness levels as it is a low impact martial arts exercise which uses no equipment and can be practiced anywhere, including in the comfort of one’s living room or back yard. While the 52 minute practice is done standing, it can be modified by the viewer in a seated position.

“My goal in creating this DVD was to help people everywhere let go of expectations, negativity and blockage in their mind and body,” said Kubsch, who lived and worked in Asia for 10 years. “With regular practice, we learn to approach stressful situations by incorporating these rejuvenating movements; turning off the verbal mind and focusing on pleasure is a skill we can all learn to incorporate into our everyday wellness routine.”

This 52-minute program covers four sections: posture & deep breathing, qigong, balance exercises and easy and gentle tai chi flow to soothe stressed bodies and active minds. Easy Qi Gong movements nourish and heal, while continually flowing Tai Chi restores health, balance and harmony. Kubsch’s first DVD, “Practice Easy Tai Chi-Qi Gong with Kim Kubsch,” showed the versatility of the exercise to be done absolutely anywhere, the second DVD, “Hello Tai Chi, Goodbye Stress” takes it a step further with a wonderful journey to a peaceful, welcoming garden setting to help transform the mindset and this third DVD, “Forever Young Tai Chi” addresses more balance movements and complex, flowing sequences.

The video features real people from all walks of life and experience, giving everyone in the audience someone to whom they can relate, from age 65 to 85. All ages and abilities can reap the benefits of this form of exercise. Kim’s frequent reminder is to modify for YOUR safety and comfort – customize the movements by listening to your body.

“Forever Young Tai Chi” retails for $20 and can be purchased at www.safemovements.com or any class. For more information email Kim@SafeMovements.com or call (480) 392-3436.
